Dear Nature Raver Friends,

Greek beaurocracy requires an extra few weeks before we can crowdfund through a platform. In the meantime you can support us through direct transfer which is preferred or through PayPal.

Following our communication with the ministry of culture representatives, during which it was clearly stated that events primarily featuring DJ performances and international talent will not be funded and are considered strictly entertainment and without any cultural impact (!) it is obvious that the newly appointed members of the funding committee have chosen a very conservative and dangerous approach towards the nature of art that should be promoted and supported in Greece.

As the main queer festival in Greece platforming a range of FLINTA artsits from Greek up and coming talent to high profile artista each year, we are voicing our concerns about this 180 turn in the ministry of culture’s funding criteria and priorities. Alienating club culture from the publicly funded cultural sector, especially an event like Nature Loves Courage which promotes the exchange between international and local audiences as well as between international and local artists poses a significant threat to diversity and inclusivity and establishes a new status quo, in fact a very dangerous one.

Each year we undertake the complex and time consuming task of organising a festival in a very remote location like Sougia. We even envisioned our initiative growing beyond solely a dance music event, with an expected and natural increase in future funding amounts following years of accomplishments. Sadly, our expectations were not met.

Early in the year 2025 and despite the financial and mental hardship that comes with organizing and executing such an initiative with extremely limited funds (a literal shoestring) and a team of two people, we proceeded with the announcement of the sixth edition of the festival, assuming we would at least break even with the help of the state funding we received in previous years.
Now, that this funding has been taken away, we turn to the community we so lovingly support and expand each year through our efforts, in hopes of collectively navigating the financial devastation inflicted on our organization.
